I spent a couple of hours (really 3.5) doing some long arm quilting yesterday in Hendersonville. It was lots of fun but I've found I prefer free motion quilting on the long arm machine. We'll see how it goes over time. I tried one of the available pattern boards and learned that while the pattern is beautiful, it takes a lot of time resetting for every pass across a quilt (that's the blue/green quilt at right). Luckily, I've been able to try out long arming on a friend's machine so it was not my very first time. I see lots of possibilities with the long arm machines and can't wait to get back there to do more quilting. The blue/white quilt at right bottom was free motion quilted on the long arm machine and that was lots of fun.
Blue and green baby size quilt with beautiful wave quilting pattern
In my head, I call this blue/white/green baby size quilt I designed "Raindrops". So I quilted (using free motion on the long arm machine) teardrop shapes in long vertical lines to look like rain drops.
