I saw this green fabric and had to have it. I'm talking about the fabric on the right side of this new green color block quilted tote bag. It's a mini dot fabric called Dimples. So, one of my favorite greens and, on top of that, polka dots. I also love color block designs. Notice the new faux suede labels for SimplyHandmadeinNC. I'm calling this bag a medium ... 14" wide at the bottom, 13.5" high and 5" deep. It's 19" wide at the top with antique brass D rings and rivets on the fabric straps. I'm thinking that maybe others are calling a bag this size a large.
I'm excited about these new quilted tote bags I've been working on for the past few weeks. Each bag is almost like a mini quilt. Each side of the bag has been machine quilted with layers of beautiful top fabric, cotton batting and muslin and then the sides are combined with a contrasting fabric to create a fully lined tote bag with at least one pocket..
I've just added several of these new quilted tote bags to my Etsy shop at SimplyHandmadeinNC.
These bags are a definite upgrade for commonly available tote bags. They can be used as travel totes, knitting totes, market totes, beach bags or shopping totes. Some of the smaller bags are better described as hobo handbags. They are lightweight, soft-sided, foldable, scrunchable and stylish.
These little guys ... chicken pincushions ... are headed to the Asheville Quilt Guild quilt show that starts Fri. Sept. 29 and runs through Sun. Oct. 1, 2017. I grew up sewing but never used pincushions. Now that I've made a few, I think I'm going to become a pincushion user. I hope none of these make it back home though; I'd like them all to go to new homes at the quilt show. Yes, I love polka dots.
