Months in the Works and Now "Sun Man" is Finally Done!

I had been putting off the free motion quilting on this fabric collage art quilt for months (and months).  Finally, it's done.  Looking back, I'd say it's best I waited until I was ready.  This fabric collage is based on Susan Carlson's method and although Susan has done beautiful sun design quilts which you can see in her book Serendipity Quilts, I created and drew this design myself on freezer paper and then traced it onto thin muslin.  From that point, the fabric pieces are arranged and glued down as you go.  I was not as thorough with the glue as Susan is; most of the time using just a glue stick to hold them in place in case I wanted to move them around.  There is a layer of tulle on top to help keep the pieces of fabric in place before it is quilted.  Finished size: 26.5" x 26.5".  Ready to hang with pockets at the top back corners.  For sale on Etsy at Sun Man Fabric Collage quilt.  This art quilt will be available for purchase at the Asheville Quilt Guild show on Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1, 2017 at the WNC Ag Center in Asheville, NC.
